Hog roast hire in Oxford
A hog roast at your event in Oxford
We bring hog roasts to weddings, birthdays, garden parties, workplaces, fêtes and wakes across Oxford and the surrounding area. We set up the roaster outdoors under cover, roast the hog slowly for hours until the meat is tender and the skin has turned to crackling, then our chef carves it in front of your guests and our staff serve it hot.
The classic is roast pork in a soft roll with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and a piece of crackling. Alongside, you can add spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage, with salads, coleslaw and new, roast or jacket potatoes. Plates come as standard, with china on request.
University city and Oxfordshire countryside
Oxford events range from college and departmental gatherings to garden parties in the villages around the city and weddings in the Oxfordshire countryside. Many historic venues have strict rules about outside caterers and gas cooking, so we check the venue’s requirements early.
Central Oxford has limited vehicle access, bus gates and very little parking, so tell us about the venue and the route to the cooking spot when you ask for a quote.

How it works
- Tell us about your event. The date, the address or venue, rough numbers, the kind of event and when you’d like to eat.
- Get a quote. We check the date and the outdoor cooking spot, then send a quote that lists the menu, staff and what’s included.
- Plan the day. We agree where the roaster goes, when we arrive and when we serve.
- We roast on site. We arrive hours ahead, set up under cover and roast the hog slowly until it’s tender, with crisp crackling.
- We carve and serve. Our chef carves, our staff serve, and afterwards we clear up and pack away.
Prices for hog roasts in Oxford
Every event is quoted individually, so the price fits what you actually need. It depends on numbers, the menu and sides, plates or china, time on site, and travel and access. Read what a hog roast costs, with published UK price ranges, or see how we price.
A hog roast or something else?
Compared with a barbecue, a hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone at once, so nobody stands over a grill all afternoon and the food doesn’t come off in batches. Compared with a cold buffet, it’s hot food carved in front of your guests, which matters on a cool evening. Compared with a plated meal, it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. The one thing to plan for is that it’s pork, which is why we offer lamb, chicken and vegetarian and vegan options too. It also needs an outdoor cooking spot with cover and clearance.
Planning a hog roast in Oxford
- Check where the roaster can go. Ask your venue or landowner where a gas-fired roaster can cook, and when we can arrive.
- Think about clearance and access. The cooking spot needs to be level and away from buildings, marquee walls and trees, with a step-free route in. Tell us about gates, steps and narrow passages.
- Count heads and diets. Ask about allergies and who doesn’t eat pork on your invitation or sign-up form.
- Decide when to eat. The roast starts hours before, so tell us the serving time and anything fixed, such as speeches, a first dance or a lunch break.
- Plan for the weather and the dark. We cook under cover, but people need somewhere dry to eat, and evening and winter events need lighting.
Ideas for Oxford events
| Event | How a hog roast fits in |
|---|---|
| Wedding | Carved on plates with sides for the wedding breakfast, or in rolls for evening food |
| Birthday or garden party | The roaster in the garden, carved at a set time for everyone together |
| Staff day | Roasted in the car park or grounds, carved and served within the lunch break |
| Fête or school fair | A hog roast stall on its own pitch, carving rolls to order through the afternoon |
Every event is planned on its own; these are just starting points.

Questions about hog roast hire in Oxford
Do you cater university and college events?
Yes, where the venue allows an outside caterer and a gas-fired roaster. Send us the details and we’ll check what’s needed.
Do you cover the villages around Oxford?
Yes. We cover Oxford and towns and villages across Oxfordshire.
How much does a hog roast cost in Oxford?
It depends on numbers, the menu, sides, time on site and travel. Tell us about your event in Oxford and we’ll send a quote that spells out what’s included. Our cost guide lists published price ranges.
How much space does the roaster need?
A level, open spot outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches, plus a step-free way in.
Can you cater for dietary needs?
Gluten-free rolls are available on request. We don’t offer halal meat. Tell us about dietary needs and allergies when you enquire, and we’ll give you the full allergen information for every dish. Standard rolls and stuffing contain gluten.
What time do you arrive?
Hours before you eat, because a whole hog roasts slowly. We’ll agree the exact times with you.
What if it rains?
We roast under cover, so rain doesn’t stop the cooking. Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat.
Do we need to provide anything?
The cooking spot and permission to use it. The roaster runs on gas, so we don’t need mains power to cook; a socket helps with lighting after dark.
What about guests who don’t eat pork?
Add spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. We don’t offer halal meat.
How do I get a quote?
Send us your date, venue or postcode, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat through our quote form.
