FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about booking a hog roast.

Where do you cater?

Across London and the South East: London, Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight. Find your area.

Is the hog roasted at the event?

Yes. The hog roasts slowly on site for several hours, outdoors under cover, and our chef carves it when you’re ready to eat.

What comes with a hog roast?

Roast pork in soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. You can add spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, vegetarian and vegan options, salads and potatoes. See the menu.

What about guests who don’t eat pork?

Add lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers (vegetarian) or a vegan burger or sausage. We don’t offer halal meat.

How much does it cost?

It depends on numbers, the menu, timings and travel. Tell us about your event and we’ll send a quote, or read our hog roast cost guide.

What do you need at the venue?

A level, open spot outdoors for the roaster and a gazebo, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches, with a step-free route to wheel the equipment in.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can. Summer Saturdays and December Fridays book up first. Ask about your date even if it’s soon.

How much space does the roaster need?

A level, open spot outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. Tell us about gates, steps and narrow passages on the way in.

Can the hog be cooked indoors?

No. It’s always cooked outdoors under cover. The food can usually be served inside a hall, barn or marquee if the venue agrees.

What if it rains?

We roast under cover, so rain doesn’t stop the cooking. Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat.

How long are you on site?

A whole hog roasts for several hours, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We’ll agree arrival, serving and finish times with you.

Do we need to provide power or water?

The roaster runs on gas, so we don’t need mains power to cook. A nearby socket helps with lighting after dark. Tell us what’s available on site.

Are your rolls gluten-free?

Standard rolls and stuffing contain gluten. Gluten-free rolls are available on request, and we provide allergen information for every dish.

Do you offer halal meat?

No, we don’t offer halal meat. For guests who don’t eat pork, we can add lamb, chicken or the vegetarian and vegan options; if someone needs halal food, please arrange it separately.

Do you bring plates and staff?

Yes. Plates come as standard (china on request, quoted separately), our chef carves and our staff serve and clear.

Can we hire the machine and cook it ourselves?

Yes, DIY hog roast machine hire is available. We’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works with your quote. See our DIY hire guide.

Can you trade at a fête or festival?
Do you cater wakes at short notice?

Ask as soon as you have a date and we’ll tell you straight away whether we’re available. See funeral and wake catering.

Do you travel outside the South East?

Our town pages cover London and the South East. For events further afield, ask us.
