Hog roast hire, slow-roasted and carved at your event · London and the South East

How it works

How hog roast hire works

From your first message to the last piece of crackling.

Step by step

  1. Tell us about your event. The date, the address or venue, roughly how many people, the kind of event and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check and send a quote. We check the date and the outdoor cooking spot, then send a quote that lists the menu, staffing and what’s included.
  3. We plan the day. We agree where the roaster goes, when we arrive and when we serve, with you or your venue.
  4. We roast on site. We arrive hours ahead, set up under cover and roast the hog slowly until it’s tender and the crackling is crisp.
  5. We carve and serve. Our chef carves to order, our staff serve, and afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away.

What the cooking area needs

  • A level, open spot outdoors
  • Clearance from buildings, marquee walls, fences and overhanging branches
  • A step-free route to wheel the roaster and equipment in
  • Somewhere close by for our vehicle
  • The venue’s or landowner’s permission for a gas-fired roaster
  • Lighting nearby for evening and winter events

The roaster runs on gas, so we don’t need mains power to cook. If you’re not sure about the space, send a photo. Our guide to what the cooking area needs goes into more detail.

Good to know

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can. Summer Saturdays and December Fridays book up first. Ask about your date even if it’s soon.

How much space does the roaster need?

A level, open spot outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. Tell us about gates, steps and narrow passages on the way in.

Can the hog be cooked indoors?

No. It’s always cooked outdoors under cover. The food can usually be served inside a hall, barn or marquee if the venue agrees.

What if it rains?

We roast under cover, so rain doesn’t stop the cooking. Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat.

How long are you on site?

A whole hog roasts for several hours, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We’ll agree arrival, serving and finish times with you.

Ready to plan your event?

  • Slow-roasted on site for hours, outdoors at your event
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
