How our wedding hog roast works in London

We work with your venue on the cooking spot, timings and access well before the day, so on the day everything is in place. For wedding breakfasts with sides and garden weddings at home, we can cook carved roast pork, rotisserie chicken and halloumi skewers and more.

A large place like London offers hotels, function rooms and gardens. We need an outdoor cooking spot near the reception. We bring plates as standard, with china available if you’d like it, at an extra cost.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, let us know who we will deal with on the day. We will keep everyone in the loop.

Planning on behalf of a committee? One clear contact makes everything easier, especially on the day.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • Note which guests do not eat pork, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Halal isn’t offered, so plan separately if needed
  • Share the menu with your venue coordinator
  • Request gluten-free rolls if needed

Evening food typically goes out an hour or two after the first dance, timed with you in advance.

Choose sides to make it a full meal.

Should I cook it myself?

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll confirm what comes with it when you ask.

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

The process

Here’s how the day usually runs: we arrive, set up under cover and start roasting, the roast cooks gently through the day, and we carve and serve at the agreed time. In London, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:05pm, so evening food is often carved in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and guest numbers.
  2. We confirm the date and the venue and send a price.
  3. We fit timings around your running order.
  4. We roast during the day, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. We serve, tidy up and slip away.

Preparing for the day

  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Check there’s a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps

We carve as we serve, so it stays hot and juicy.

Your questions about a hog roast for your wedding in London

Can you do a hog roast in Newington Gardens?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Check with them first.

Can you cater after a service at St George the Martyr?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is generally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Can you cater in London?

We do. Tell us the venue or postcode and we will check the date.

Do you serve the food?

You do not need anyone else: our chef carves and our team serves and clears.

How big a hog will we need?

The roast is chosen to suit how many you’re feeding, so a good estimate matters. We’ll confirm the menu in the quote.

Is crockery included?

We bring plates as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

How much does a hog roast cost?

Each event is priced on its own, based on numbers, menu, service time and distance. Tell us about your wedding for a quote.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

Yes, we hire out the hog roast machine. We’ll confirm what comes with it and how to use it.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Some couples have a formal meal and a hog roast in the evening; others have the hog roast as the main event. Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so we list each one in the quote. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.
