Hog roast hire for your event in Swalecliffe

Booking a hog roast means you do not have to cook. We arrive hours before you eat, set up under cover and roast slowly, then carve and serve at the time you choose. Whether it’s christmas fairs and club events and presentations, we’ll put together a menu of coleslaw, halloumi skewers and hog roast rolls.

A place like Swalecliffe often has a village hall, a recreation ground or a pub garden nearby; any can host a hog roast with permission. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

A closer look at the menu

Crackling

Long, slow roasting turns the skin into crackling, and we break it up so everyone gets a piece.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Halloumi and vegetable skewers are the vegetarian choice: squeaky, salty cheese with colourful veg.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with food vans, a hog roast feeds a crowd quickly from one roast. What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. Slow roasting means we’re on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

What you get with us

  • No surprises: everything in writing
  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
  • Choices for people who do not eat pork

Read our pricing and our hog roast cost guide.

Should I cook it myself?

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is generally easier.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it’s a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

Planning the cooking spot

Most outdoor spaces can work with a little planning. Here’s what helps:

  • A marquee, hall or barn as a wet-weather plan
  • A way to wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Somewhere nearby to park our vehicle

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, a PA or on a committee, let us know who we will deal with on the day. We’ll keep you both updated.

Booking for a club or group? One clear contact makes everything easier, particularly when timings shift.

Allergies and dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option
  • We do not offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it’s needed
  • Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance

We’ll agree a contact for the day, ideally not the host, so you can enjoy yourself.

We can supply china instead of standard plates, at an extra cost.

The process

Rain does not stop the roast, because we cook under cover. Your guests will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. Around midsummer it stays light in Swalecliffe until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is usually in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:50pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
  5. We pack everything away when everyone has eaten.

Before we arrive

  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Give us final numbers a week or so before

Prices and what affects them

Here’s what affects the price:

  • Menu choices and extras
  • Plates or china
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • The number of people

Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. There is no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.

Details that help

When you enquire, please mention:

  • An estimate of numbers
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
  • Your date and serving time
  • Where the event is

We need a few details to quote: the date and serving time, the venue or CT5 postcode, rough numbers and which extras you’d like. Send us your details through our quote form.
