Hog roast hire in Sandhurst

What a hog roast costs

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • Menu choices and extras
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site
  • Whether you want china
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.

What to tell us

Here’s what we will ask:

  • Your date and serving time
  • Roughly how many people
  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • Allergies we should know about

Numbers not final yet? Give us your best estimate and we’ll quote on that, and you can confirm nearer the time. Send us your details through our quote form.

Hog roast hire in Sandhurst, carved to order

Hiring a hog roast means a whole hog cooked slowly on site, over several hours, outdoors under cover. Then our chef carves it and the team serves it in rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Whether it’s big birthdays and anniversaries and christmas parties, we will put together a menu of hog roast rolls, new potatoes and salads.

In Sandhurst, the roaster normally goes in a back garden, a club or hall car park, or the grounds of a hired venue. All of them can work, as long as there’s a level spot clear of buildings and trees. Our staff serve and clear, so you’re not left handing out rolls.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

Space, access and the venue

It’s worth planning the cooking area in advance. The ideal spot has:

  • A way to wheel the roaster to the spot

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

The process

We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so cooking does not depend on mains power; a nearby socket helps with lights if service runs into the evening. In Sandhurst, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. We arrive early, set up under cover and start roasting.
  4. The chef carves and the team fills rolls or plates.
  5. We clear up and go.

Getting ready for the day

  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day

What comes off the roaster

Rotisserie chicken

For guests who do not eat pork, rotisserie chicken is the easy answer, and it suits fussy eaters.

Spit-roast lamb

Lamb on the spit roasts gently for hours, carved to order at the serving station, frequently with mint sauce.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Tell us about dietary needs early and we will help. Some ideas:

  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Count anyone who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list

Everything for serving comes with us, so you only need to provide the space.

Prefer to cook yourself? Ask about DIY machine hire.

For event organisers in Sandhurst

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

For venues and planners, we’re happy to work alongside your team, sharing timings and a site plan.

Common questions in Sandhurst

Could you cook in Sandhurst Memorial Park?

Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

Is Sandhurst close to London?

About 32 miles from central London, and well within our area.

Do you bring plates?

We bring plates as standard. If you’d like china, ask and we’ll add it to the quote.

How much room do you need?

A flat, open spot outside, and a way to wheel everything in. Send us a photo if you’re unsure.

Is it just pork?

Pork is the classic, and you can add spit-roast lamb or rotisserie chicken. There are vegetarian and vegan options as well.

Do we need a big space?

Access and clearance matter more than size. Tell us about the garden and we’ll advise.

How much will it be?

Each event is priced on its own, depending on numbers, menu, timings and travel. Tell us about your event for a quote.

How big a hog will we need?

The roast is chosen to suit how many you’re feeding, so tell us your best estimate. We will confirm the menu in the quote.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
