Hog roast hire for Burnt Oak

Hog roast hire in Burnt Oak, carved to order

We roast the hog at your event, not in a kitchen miles away, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp when it is served. Add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options if you like. For village fêtes and school fairs and christmas parties, we’ll put together a menu of halloumi skewers, rotisserie chicken and spit-roast lamb and more.

In Burnt Oak, the roaster might go in a garden, a church car park or a works yard. Tell us how we get the equipment in. Timings are planned around your event, because the roast has to start hours before you eat, so the food is ready at the right moment.

The process

We roast under cover, so a shower won’t spoil the food. It is worth planning a sheltered place for people to eat, too. Because the roast takes hours, daylight is worth planning: in Burnt Oak, sunset is around 8:55pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, but by late December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. You get a check on the date and the spot, and a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. At serving time, the chef carves and the team serves.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

How to prepare

  • Ensure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Let us know about tight access
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains

Planning help

What the cooking area needs

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • Flat outdoor ground for the roaster and a gazebo
  • A way to wheel the roaster to the spot
  • A marquee, hall or barn as a wet-weather plan

As a London location, Burnt Oak is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

A hog roast compared with other options

Next to a barbecue, a hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone, so nobody stands at a grill all afternoon. Our guide compares the two. The main driver is numbers: the price per head generally falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

Why book with us

  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests
  • The classics: stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside
  • Our staff serve and clear

Read our prices page or the cost guide.

Allergies and dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so plan an alternative. Helpful tips:

  • Find out who does not eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • Put the menu on the invitation
  • Ask about allergies when you send invitations

We’ll agree a contact for the day, ideally not the host, so you can enjoy yourself.

Sides turn a roll into a proper meal, and they’re listed in your quote.

How to compare hog roast caterers

DIY versus a catered hog roast

If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it’s a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

Prices and what affects them

Each price is built from:

  • Site access
  • Season and day of the week
  • Numbers
  • How long the roast and service take

Travel matters for the price: travel is included in your quote, with any London charges listed. Tell us the exact address so the quote is accurate.

Getting an accurate quote

Good details mean a good quote. Useful details:

  • The date and time of the event
  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Any dietary needs or allergies

Busy weekends book up early, especially summer Saturdays and December Fridays. Send us your date for a quote: fill in our quote form.

What comes off the roaster

Rotisserie chicken

Rotisserie chicken is there for anyone who’d rather not have pork, and it suits fussy eaters.

Spit-roast lamb

With lamb as well, there are two roasts to choose from, which suits bigger events.
