Hog roast hire for Buckingham

Planning for dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so it is worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:

  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option
  • Count anyone who does not eat pork, and order an alternative for them
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them

Slow roasting needs attention, which is our job, not yours. You can get on with your event.

China crockery is available on request, at an extra cost.

About our hog roast hire in Buckingham

In Buckingham, we cater birthdays, weddings, staff days and fêtes. The idea is always the same: a slow roast on site, carved fresh and served by our team. We are often asked to cater festive gatherings and community events, with rotisserie chicken, crackling and new potatoes.

A town like Buckingham gives you plenty of options: a garden, a club, a hall or a venue. We’ll agree where the roaster goes beforehand. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so nobody in your party has to serve.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

Buckingham: venues, access and local tips

Buckingham is about 10 miles west of Milton Keynes, in Buckinghamshire. We bring a hog roast to events anywhere in Buckingham, as long as there’s an outdoor spot to cook. We bring hog roasts to 263 places across Buckinghamshire, from the larger towns to small villages. Our bookings stretch from Buckingham to Milton Keynes (about 10 miles away).

Within reach of Buckingham are historic houses such as Stowe House (2.8 miles north-west). If your event is at a historic house or estate, check its rules on outside caterers and gas cooking early. After a service at St Peter and St Paul, the hog roast can be ready at a nearby hall or house.

Wherever your event is in MK18, we can bring the roaster to you, from busy streets to quiet lanes. Local streets include Market Square, Market Hill and High Street; an event on any of them works well with outdoor space and a way in. Being close to the A421 and A422, Buckingham is simple for us to get to with the roaster. Neighbouring places where we cater events include Padbury (2 miles south-east), Thornborough (3 miles east), Adstock (3 miles south-east), Steeple Claydon (4 miles south) and Middle Claydon (5 miles south). Further out, we also cater in Aylesbury (14 miles south-east), Elmhurst (14 miles south-east), Southcourt (15 miles south-east), Haydon Hill (13 miles south-east), Turnfurlong (15 miles south-east) and Quarrendon Estate (14 miles south-east). Buckingham is one of the larger places we cover in Buckinghamshire, with plenty of venues for events.

Nearby you will also find Buckingham Movie Museum (under half a mile north-west) and Buckingham Community Hospital (less than half a mile north). The countryside around Buckingham includes Buckingham Sand Pit.

  • Local schools include Buckingham School (within half a mile south)
  • Nearby, you will find The Three Cups Public House (under half a mile north-west)

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with a plated meal, a hog roast does not need a kitchen, which generally keeps the cost down. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.

Why book with us

  • Planned to your running order
  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • Our staff serve and clear
  • A clear quote with everything listed

Buckingham questions

We are gathering after a service at St Peter and St Paul: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Is Buckingham close to London?

Roughly 51 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

How does hog roast hire work?

We bring the roaster, roast the hog on site for hours, then our chef carves it and our staff serve, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling.

Can we hire the machine and cook it ourselves?

Yes, for confident cooks. We’ll explain the details with your quote.

Do you serve the food?

Our chef carves and our staff serve, and we clear up when service is finished.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. Serving inside is often possible, with the venue’s agreement.

What happens in bad weather?

We cook under a gazebo, so rain isn’t a problem for the roast. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

Do you bring plates?

We supply plates as standard. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Where the roaster can go in Buckingham

It is worth planning the cooking area in advance. We look for:

  • The venue’s agreement to a gas-fired roaster
  • Flat outdoor ground for the roaster and a gazebo
  • Nothing overhead that could catch the heat

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

How we price a hog roast

There is no fixed price list, because every event is different. What matters most:

  • Distance from us
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Time on site

Numbers make the biggest difference: bigger groups usually cost less per head, since much of the cost is fixed.

What to tell us

Good details mean a good quote. Please include:

  • Your date and serving time
  • Rough numbers
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • The venue or postcode

Getting a quote is simple: tell us when, where, how many and what time you’d like to eat. You’ll get a clear quote listing what’s included. Fill in our quote form.

Planners, venues and businesses

For venues and planners, we can fit around your other suppliers.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you are a planner, a PA or on a committee, let us know who we’ll deal with on the day. We’ll keep everyone in the loop.

How the day works

From setting up to the last roll, we look after the food, so you can enjoy your event. Because the roast takes hours, daylight is worth planning: around Buckingham, it stays light until about 9:25pm at midsummer, but by late December it’s dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
  5. We serve, tidy up and leave the spot clean.

Before we arrive

  • Gather dietary requirements early
  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Let us know about tight access
