What affects the price in Aaron's Hill

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • Numbers
  • Site access
  • Time on site
  • Season and day of the week

Travel matters for the price: travel is included in your quote. Give us the address for an accurate figure.

Details that help

When you enquire, it helps to include:

  • An estimate of numbers
  • Any venue rules
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Dietary requirements

Busy weekends book up early, especially summer Saturdays and December Fridays. Tell us your date and we will check it: use our quote form.

Planning the cooking spot

The roaster needs the right spot, because it cooks outside for several hours, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • Flat outdoor ground for the roaster and a gazebo
  • Vehicle access close to the cooking area
  • A marquee, hall or barn as a wet-weather plan

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.

Aaron's Hill: your questions answered

How far is Aaron's Hill from London?

Roughly 32 miles from the centre of London.

Can you do a hog roast in Phillips Memorial Park?

Only if the landowner, generally the council, allows it. Ask them first.

Do you come to Aaron's Hill?

Yes, Aaron's Hill is in our area. Tell us the venue or postcode and we will confirm availability.

Do you offer gluten-free rolls?

We can provide gluten-free rolls if you ask. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

Will there be enough to go round?

We plan quantities from the numbers you give us, and we will confirm everything in writing.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

Yes, for confident cooks. Ask and we’ll talk you through it.

Is mains power needed?

Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Let us know what’s on site.

Can we choose catered or DIY?

You can have us cook, or hire the machine. Your quote will set out what’s included.

Full catering or machine hire?

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

How the day works

A hog roast is always cooked outside, under a gazebo on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and trees. We agree exactly where before the day. Because the roast takes hours, daylight is worth planning: in Aaron's Hill, sunset is around 8:55pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, while in December the light goes at about 3:55pm, so winter bookings need lighting from mid-afternoon.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. The chef carves and the team fills rolls or plates.
  5. We pack away and leave you to it.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about tight access
  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival
  • Think about shelter for your guests

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Most people love a hog roast, but it’s pork. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it is needed
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information
  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs

The roaster needs looking after for hours, and that is what we’re there for. You can relax and enjoy the day.

Add lamb or chicken for a second roast.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Compared with a cold buffet, a hog roast is hot, freshly carved and feels like an occasion. Buffets can sit out for hours. Numbers make the biggest difference: the price per head generally falls as numbers rise, since much of the cost is fixed.

Why book with us

  • Planned to your running order
  • An itemised quote
  • A choice of salads and potatoes
  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated

Organisers may ask for documents such as a risk assessment or gas safety information. Tell us what you need and we will tell you what we can send.
